Getting Started
Most MIDI keyboards work with Melodics. If you’re having trouble connecting your keyboard or if Melodics can’t detect it, follow these steps:
Select the Right Instrument
Make sure “KEYS” is selected as your instrument in Melodics. Click the keys icon in the top left corner to change to keys.Check Supported Devices
Some keyboards are plug-and-play with Melodics. Go to the Settings tab and select your keyboard from the ‘selected device’ dropdown menu.
Note: Supported devices will work without manual mapping if directly connected via USB. If you’re using a MIDI to USB interface, you may need to map your keyboard manually.
Mapping Your Keyboard Manually
If your keyboard isn’t natively supported or doesn’t appear in the ‘selected device’ dropdown menu, you’ll need to create a manual mapping:
Go to Settings.
Click on ‘Map your instrument’.
Follow the on-screen instructions: press the lowest key on your keyboard, then the highest key to set the range.
Troubleshooting: Keyboard Not Detected
If Melodics says it can't find a connected MIDI keyboard, try these solutions:
Check Your USB Connection: Ensure the USB cable is properly connected.
Try a Different USB Cable or Port: Use a different cable or USB port on your computer. Avoid USB hubs, USB extensions, and long USB cables (>2 meters).
Restart Your Computer: This can reset any software/driver glitches.
Close Other Applications: Other programs might interfere with your keyboard’s connection.
NI Komplete Kontrol users: You may need to ensure Komplete software is properly closed. Open Task Manager, (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc). Find and shutdown the 'NI host integration agent' task.
Factory Reset Your Keyboard: This might be necessary; refer to your keyboard’s manual or check online guides for instructions.
Install Necessary Drivers: Some keyboards require specific drivers. Visit the manufacturer’s website for the latest drivers and updates:
