Getting Started

Most MIDI pad controllers work with Melodics. If you’re having trouble connecting your controller or if Melodics can’t detect it, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Right Instrument
Ensure “PADS” is selected as your instrument in Melodics. Click the pads icon in the top left corner to change to pads.

  2. Check Supported Devices
Some pad controllers are plug-and-play with Melodics. Go to the Settings tab and select your device from the ‘selected device’ dropdown menu.

Note: Supported devices will work without manual mapping if directly connected via USB. If you’re using a MIDI to USB interface, you may need to map your controller manually.

Mapping Your Pad Controller Manually

If your pad controller isn’t natively supported or doesn’t appear in the ‘selected device’ dropdown menu, you’ll need to create a manual mapping:

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Click on ‘Map MIDI instrument’.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to choose your pad layout and map each pad sequentially.

Troubleshooting: Controller Not Detected

If Melodics says it can't find a connected MIDI pad controller, try these solutions:

  • Check Your USB Connection: Ensure the USB cable is properly connected.

  • Try a Different USB Cable or Port: Use a different cable or USB port on your computer. Avoid USB hubs, USB extensions, and long USB cables (>2 meters).

  • Restart Your Computer: This can reset any software/driver glitches.

  • Close Other Applications: Other programs might interfere with your controller’s connection.

  • Factory Reset Your Pad Controller: This might be necessary; refer to your controller’s manual or check this guide for instructions.

  • Install Necessary Drivers: Some controllers require specific drivers. Visit the manufacturer’s website for the latest drivers and updates:
