Connecting and Selecting an Audio Device

  • Bluetooth headphones/speakers: ⚠️ Bluetooth audio connections introduce significant latency (delay), so it’s important to use wired connections for audio playback.

  • Headphones connected directly to your iPhone/iPad: Sound should automatically come through your headphones if they are plugged directly into the headphone jack. Use an adapter if required*.

  • External audio interface: Connect your interface via USB as you would your MIDI instrument, and then select your device as your audio output in Melodics’ settings. On iPhone, your sound will automatically come out your connected interface.

*On iPhone and iPad models without a headphone jack, you’ll need an adapter. If you are also connecting your instrument via USB, choose an adapter that has a headphone jack and USB connection. For more information about connecting your instrument, view this guide.

Audio output priority: On iPhone, the audio will play through the most recently connected device. For example, if you first connect headphones and then plug in an external audio interface, the sound will be routed through the audio interface.

General Troubleshooting Tips for iOS

  1. Disconnect Bluetooth devices: Remove any Bluetooth audio devices to eliminate latency.

  2. Check your settings: Make sure the correct audio output device is selected in Melodics (iPad only).

  3. Check your connections: On iPhone, Melodics will route audio via USB to your instrument (if your instrument has this functionality).

  4. Use a reliable adapter: Ensure that any adapters in use are compatible and functioning properly. View our recommended adapters above.
