Practice just got way more rewarding.
Welcome to a new era of Melodics, designed to help you better understand how you’re progressing and keep you coming back for more.
Why? We know learning an instrument can be tough. You’re trying to put in the hours, doing the right things, and still wondering… is it working?
Now you’ll know.
Progress in music isn’t always a straight line. But it is something you can feel when you’re showing up, getting clear feedback, and knowing when it’s time to push. From today, every session counts. You’ll see your progress build. And breakthroughs won’t go unnoticed.
Here's how it works.
Stardom & XP
Consistency is what makes musicians. The hard part isn’t knowing that, it’s feeling the payoff soon enough to keep going.
Now, you'll be rewarded with XP (Experience points) for every session. Lessons, songs, skills, everything counts.
As XP stacks up, climb through Stardom ranks - the ultimate symbol of your dedication.
So your commitment isn’t invisible anymore. Every minute is celebrated, the grind is recognized and you’ll feel proud of simply showing up.
Stages
Practice matters. But sooner or later, you want evidence it’s paying off.
Now, you can test your skills with Stages. Take on these new, seriously fun and increasingly difficult challenges to showcase your chops.
Each instrument has 15 Stages with shifting music and environments that test your timing, control and musical instincts.
Nail a Stage, unlock the next challenge, and keep moving forward at a pace that fits you.
Make it to the next Stage? You’ve earned it. And we’re cheering you on all the way.
Weekly Goals
Most of the time, it’s not lack of motivation holding us back - it’s staring at a blank page or being overwhelmed by options and not knowing where to begin.
Now, you get Weekly Goals – curated lessons matched to your Stage, refreshed every week. Open the app and jump straight into playing, knowing you’re working on the right stuff.
And when you’re taking on these challenges, you’ll get bonus XP to help you climb toward the next level faster.
New lesson scoring
A new lesson scoring system. And a new high score.
We know that precise measurement and personalized, real-time feedback are some of the things you love most about Melodics. So you’ve now got smarter and more accurate scoring for lessons to match that feeling.
Go back to your favorites to refine your timing, push past Platinum and celebrate new personal bests. This is about more than passing, it’s about leveling up your precision, control, and creativity.
Progress isn’t just time logged, it’s a full picture of where you’re at, where you’ve come from and where you’re heading next. Everything here is designed to make you feel truly seen.
And to get to your music goals quicker.
And to feel good while doing it.

General
What happens to my old Level, Stars, and completed lessons?
What happens to my old Level, Stars, and completed lessons?
Don’t worry - your progress isn’t going anywhere. It’s just entering a new era.
Your hard work and dedication are now reflected in your Stardom. The more you play, the higher your Stardom rank. Your skill level is demonstrated by passing Stages, which are designed to test your ability and show the level at which you’re playing.
All of your play time and streaks are still tracked. Completed lessons remain completed, and all earned stars stay with you. You can also replay lessons to improve your score and push even higher than before.
I had personal goals tied to the old system – what do I do now?
I had personal goals tied to the old system – what do I do now?
The new system works together as a whole, so it may take a little time to get used to. A good place to start is by replaying some of your favorite lessons to get familiar with the updated scoring and see how your Stardom builds as you play.
Work through Stages to find the level that reflects your current skill. Once you’ve identified the right Stage, use Weekly Goals to keep building consistency and momentum.
As you spend time with the new system, you’ll get a clearer sense of how everything fits together. From there, you can decide whether to focus on steady, incremental improvement or push yourself toward the next Stage.

How do I earn XP?
How do I earn XP?
You earn XP for playing lessons, songs, courses, and even replaying older content. You can also earn XP by reaching your daily goal and playing Weekly Goals.
Is there a limit on how much XP can be earned each day or week?
Is there a limit on how much XP can be earned each day or week?
There’s no limit to how much XP you can earn. Play as much as you like and earn XP every time.

What exactly is Stardom measuring?
What exactly is Stardom measuring?
Stardom represents your effort and dedication through every moment of practice.
Every time you play, you earn XP and grow your Stardom. Playing more accurately earns more XP, helping you climb the ranks faster – but showing up consistently is what really moves the needle.
Is Stardom global across all instruments, or does each instrument have its own Stardom?
Is Stardom global across all instruments, or does each instrument have its own Stardom?
Stardom is shared across all instruments.
If you’re putting effort into learning multiple instruments, that dedication is reflected in your Stardom growth.
Stages
What’s the difference between a Stage and a Lesson?
What’s the difference between a Stage and a Lesson?
Lessons are where you learn and practice. Stages are where you test your skills.
Every instrument includes 15 Stages built for challenge, not practice. Each targets a key learning outcome and is backed by supporting lessons. Passing a Stage is like getting at least three stars on a lesson.
Can I skip Stages or jump ahead if the early ones are too easy?
Can I skip Stages or jump ahead if the early ones are too easy?
Stages unlock in order, so you’ll progress through them one by one.
Even if the early Stages feel easy, we recommend playing through them. Think of it less as starting over, and more as finding your edge.
How do I know when I’m ready to attempt a Stage?
How do I know when I’m ready to attempt a Stage?
Each Stage includes three progress dials that show how close you are to being ready. As you play Stage Warm-ups and lessons (or songs) at the same Grade, your skills improve and those dials fill up.
For example, to prepare for Stage 4, start by completing the Stage 4 Warm-ups. Then play Grade 4 lessons and songs until the dials turn green. Once they’re green, you know you’ll be ready to take on the Stage.
If I fail a Stage, can I retry immediately, or do I need to do Stage Warm-ups first?
If I fail a Stage, can I retry immediately, or do I need to do Stage Warm-ups first?
Yes – you can retry as many times as you want.
But rather than forcing through a Stage, we recommend playing Stage Warm-ups or lessons at that grade to get comfortable with the learning outcomes.
Weekly Goals
How are Weekly Goals chosen?
How are Weekly Goals chosen?
Weekly Goals are based on your current Stage and align with skills you need to pass the next Stage you’re working on. They refresh weekly as a first stop for your practice every Monday.
When do Weekly Goals refresh?
When do Weekly Goals refresh?
Weekly Goals refresh every Monday at midnight, based on your local time zone.
Once refreshed, a new set of Weekly Goals becomes available, with fresh opportunities to earn bonus XP. Lessons included in previous Weekly Goals are still available to play, but no longer grant bonus XP.
New lesson scoring
Why can scores go over 100 now?
Why can scores go over 100 now?
Our new lesson scoring is smarter and more accurate than ever.
You can still earn 1, 2, 3, and Platinum stars by playing well, but higher scores reflect tighter timing and consistency on that lesson. Go back to your favourites to refine your timing and celebrate new personal bests.
How are scores calculated?
How are scores calculated?
Combo / note streak matters. We look at how many correct notes you hit in a row. Longer clean note sequences increase your score.
Accuracy / timing precision matters more. A Green note isn’t just on time. We measure how tightly on time it was. A very accurate hit scores higher than a slightly off one, even if both show as Green.
What happens to my old scores?
What happens to my old scores?
Your previous scores are preserved. The new system builds on them by introducing a more detailed scoring scale with greater headroom.
The performance thresholds for earning one, two, three, or Platinum stars remain the same as before.
